Community Liaison Groups

To foster proactive engagement with the community, in 2012 the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) established five Community Liaison Groups (CLGs) in the neighbouring districts of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), namely Islands, Kwai Tsing, Shatin, Tsuen Wan and Tuen Mun. CLG members include district councillors and community leaders. AAHK uses CLGs as a platform to exchange views on HKIA’s latest developments with the community, in an effort to enhance airport services and contribute to the betterment of these districts. CLGs also enable AAHK to listen to the views of community leaders on various topics related to HKIA and the three-runway system (3RS) project, including environmental issues. Professional Liaison Group

Professional Liaison Group

AAHK has set up a Professional Liaison Group (PLG) comprising professionals and experts with relevant experience to facilitate communications and handle enquiries and complaints about environmental issues related to the 3RS project. Project information shared with the group includes construction and operational progress as well as the results of environmental monitoring and audits. In an effort to deepen community outreach, AAHK has invited more than 550 members representing 20 Area Committees from neighbouring districts to attend briefings on the latest developments and green initiatives at HKIA and take tours of the airport's facilities.

Other Engagement Activities

AAHK reports to the Legislative Council Panel on Economic Development on a regular basis, providing updates to panel members on the development of the 3RS project. In addition, AAHK maintains on-going engagement with a wide range of stakeholders – including briefings, meetings and airport visits with statutory bodies, professional organisations, green groups and industry associations – in order to update them on the latest developments at the airport and listen to their views.

To enhance students' understanding of the importance of HKIA’s development and economic growth of Hong Kong, we have arranged a number of briefings and airport visits for universities and secondary schools.
